The news of the death of Marshal Piłsudski made a deep impression in the town. A depressed mood was felt among the whole population. Over all the houses the state flags were lowered, wrapped in black crepe. In all schools lessons were interrupted as a sign of mourning. At 10 in the morning prayers were held in all houses of prayer. In the Beit Yaakov study house, before a packed crowd of Jews and school youth, the local rabbi, Rabbi David Feinenboim, delivered a eulogy, speaking about the personality of Marshal Piłsudski and the significance of the sad event. Afterwards Mr. David Shoshan (shochet) recited a memorial prayer and sang "El Malei Rachamim".

During the day a meeting of the Jewish Kehilla took place. The chairman, Mr. Feivel Goldfein, gave a mourning speech and honoured the memory of the deceased. The Kehilla decided to contact the other kehillas about how to perpetuate the memory of Marshal Piłsudski. Throughout the town mourning posters were hung with the manifesto of the President of the State about the Marshal's death. With great impatience the population awaited the Warsaw newspapers with the details of the death.
